AirAsia Baggage Policy
AirAsia passengers can select from a range of baggage options depending on ticket type. Economy passengers may take one piece of baggage with dimensions not exceeding 55 cm x 40 cm x 20 cm at no additional charge.
In order to bring more baggage with them, passengers can select from a variety of paid options during the booking process or by checking in at the airport. AirAsia also offers complimentary weight limits for extra baggage.
And a handbag (for laptops and for infants) at 40cm (H) X 30cm (W) X 10cm (L) maximum dimension.

If you have purchased two 20kg baggage allowances and you have a 25 kg bag and a 12 kg bag you have to move the additional 5 kg to the 12 kg bag to comply with the policy.

Baggage Fees and Hot Seat Selection Charges:
Pre-booking for additional baggage on time of booking is 50% to that of just before departure.
- Additional baggage of 20kg each ranges from $50 pre-booking to $110 at the airport.
- Seat Selection starts from $100 during pre-booking and reaches up to $180 at the airport counter.

AirAsia’s Carry-on Baggage Restrictions
Size and weight limits: Passengers are allowed one piece of cabin baggage that must not exceed 56cm x 36cm x 23cm in dimensions, and must weigh no more than 7 kg.
Personal item: Passengers may bring one personal item, such as a small handbag or laptop bag that can fit under the seat in front of them, in addition to their cabin baggage
Restricted items in Carry-on Baggage: Passengers must not carry sharp objects, explosives, flammable items, and liquids over 100ml (unless they are in a clear, resealable plastic bag and not exceeding a maximum volume of 1 liter) in their cabin baggage.
Infant items: Travelling with an infant, passengers may bring a small bag containing essential items for the infant, such as diapers and baby food.
Stowing of baggage: Passengers must stow their cabin baggage in the overhead compartment or under the seat in front of them for the safety and comfort of all passengers.
Checked Baggage Quick Points
Size and Weight Limits for Checked Baggage: Passengers are allowed to check in up to two pieces of baggage with a maximum weight of 32kg per piece. The total dimensions (length + width + height) of each piece of baggage must not exceed 119cm x 119cm x 81cm.
Excess baggage fees: Passengers who exceed the weight or size limits for their checked baggage will be required to pay excess baggage fees. The fees vary depending on the route and the weight of the baggage. Instead of buying additional baggage, calculate and buy it early online to save bucks.
Unaccompanied baggage: AirAsia does not accept unaccompanied baggage for domestic or international flights.
Carrying Liquids on AirAsia Flights
- Volume limit: Passengers are only allowed to carry a maximum of 100ml of liquids such as water, drinks, creams, gels, and pastes per container in their cabin baggage.
- Bag limit: These liquids must be placed in a clear, resealable plastic bag with a maximum volume of 1 liter and each passenger is only permitted to bring one bag of liquids on board.
- Security screening: During security screening, passengers must remove the plastic bag containing liquids from the cabin baggage and place it in a separate tray for security checks and present it separately.
- Exemptions: However, medicines, baby food, and special dietary requirements are exempt from the liquid restrictions, but they must be declared to the security officers and presented for security checks.
- Make Use of Checked Baggage: Passengers can also carry larger amounts of liquids in their checked baggage, as long as they are properly packed and labeled.
AirAsia Pet Policy
AirAsia doesn’t allow dogs, cats, and other small animals onboard.
Traveling with service animals on AirAsia India (i5 flights) and AirAsia Japan (DJ flights) is permitted, however, there may be exceptions. To find out more, contact AirAsia by selecting the “Support” option at www.airasia.com.
And Provided they have carried in airline-approved containers. Customers are required to pay additional charges depending on destination, destination-specific requirements, and kennel size. Prior approval is required for the pet’s journey.
AirAsia Pregnancy Policy
AirAsia is committed to providing comfortable air travel experiences for all passengers – including those travelers who may be expecting.
AirAsia’s guidelines require that pregnant passengers provide proof of viability on board an international flight.
Pregnant passengers must also provide a medical certificate confirming fitness to fly if they are 28 weeks pregnant or beyond.
AirAsia encourages pregnant passengers to contact their Customer Support at least 48 hours before departure to provide the necessary information.
