Ticket Cancellation Policy FAQ

•24-hour Cancellation Policy: Passengers can request cancellation within 24 hours for a 100% refund if the departure date is at least 7 days away.
•Flight Cancellation Charges: Beyond 24 hours, passengers are liable to pay a Lufthansa airlines cancellation fee of $200 USD and can claim the unused portion of the ticket to book new flights within 365 days.
When you will get the refund: The refund amount will be back to the original payment method within 2-3 business days.
•Refund for Canceled from Lufthansa: In the case of a canceled flight event, passengers have the right to a full refund without any charge.
•Group Booking Cancellation Refund: Lufthansa free cancellation within 24 hours would not apply to group bookings or flights booked with airline miles.

  • Lufthansa’s 24-hour cancellation policy does not apply to flights booked with airline miles or a reward bonus.
  • To cancel a Lufthansa flight within 24 hours, passengers need to visit ‘Manage Booking’ online.
  • Canceling a non-refundable fare with Lufthansa will not be eligible for a cash refund.

Flight Change Policy

  • You can change your Lufthansa flight within 24 hours of purchase if the departure is at least seven days in advance.
  • You can also make changes to your flight on the same day, but this must be done one hour before the originally scheduled flight.
  • No fees are charged for flight changes within 24 hours, but fare differences may apply.
  • Passengers can change their flight online through the Lufthansa Airlines website
  • If there is a significant delay of more than 3 hours, you can reschedule a flight for free within 7 days
  • All requests must be completed up to 3 hours prior to the scheduled departure
  • The cost to change flights varies depending on the fare type and class of service (Standard fare: 350 USD, Flexi fare: 200 USD)

Name Change Policy

  • Once a ticket number is allotted, it is not possible to make a ‘Lufthansa change name on the ticket’ request.
  • Lufthansa provides all the travel essentials, amenities, and other services to the person named on the ticket, upon presentation of a valid ticket.
  • However, legal considerations permit passengers to request a name change, and a legal document is required to process the request. Lufthansa travelers can add, eliminate, or correct their names.
  • A request for re-issuance would be considered and flights would be rebooked in the same or lower/higher available class.
  • Lufthansa’s name change fee of 200 USD would be assessed along with the fare difference if any. Passengers should ensure that the names on the ticket, including first name, middle name, or last name are entered correctly.

Lufthansa Web Check-in POlicy FAQ

  • When to check in with Lufthansa? Lufthansa web check-in allows passengers to complete the request 23 hours before the scheduled flight departure.
  • Why check in online? It is mandatory to check in for your Lufthansa flight before boarding and it is important to complete Lufthansa online check-in requests to avoid the rush during the peak hours at the airport.
  • Do I have to print the boarding pass? Passengers can print the Lufthansa boarding pass via the airline’s reservation portal under the Manage Booking section and if you are using the Lufthansa mobile app it will be saved in your device, so not needed to print.
  • I have bags to check in can I use web check-in? The Lufthansa web check-in service is available for passengers who carry checked bags as well as for passengers who travel with carry-on bags only.
  • Missed printing on my computer what to do? Passengers can reprint the boarding pass at any airport kiosk or another computer.
  • I bought a ticket via a travel agency can I get an online boarding pass? All Lufthansa flight bookings are eligible for the online boarding pass provided they have an e-ticket.
